Richmond Real Estate: Buying a Home in Richmond

Richmond Real Estate: Choose Your Realtor Carefully

With the fast changing real estate market, picking a good realtor to work with is critical when you are looking to buy a home that is right for you. Realtors that specialize in a geographical location and housing types, or condominium buildings are more knowledgable in the homes they sell.

How do you find a good realtor?

Finding a realtor you like takes time. The best way to find a realtor is through recommendations through friends, family members and interview realtors. Ask for references from past clients, and most importantly, ask questions to find out how well they know the local market. You can also find your local realtors the Internet, and local real estate websites like REaltyLink Online and MLS.ca. Some realtors may have their own websites you can browse to learn more about his or her business. A good realtor should be one that you can contact easily.

Be a good home buyer

You are faced with a major challenge to find a good realtor who can dedicate the time to find you the right home. Respect the time that a realtor need to spend with you. Do your research about the market place and sit down with your realtor to discuss what you are looking for. Any realtor would be happy to sell you a home, but finding one who believes in looking after your best interests is not easy.

Good realtors will work with good buyers and will not have time for buyers who are not "ready" or "do not know" what they are looking. Successful realtors do not want to waste time on buyers who are not "qualified" or "ready". A good Buyer Agent is actively engaged in the business, answer his calls promptly and knows what are the good deals.

Trusting a realtor is the key in finding the home that's right for you. When good homes are selling within days of listing on the market, you cannot afford to work with someone else who is not constantly "on the ball".

Here are some common sense appraoch to pick a realtor to represent you:

 - find a realtor who is working full time on the real estate business
 - make sure your realtor is a local realtor who knows the market well
 - spend your time discussing your needs and have your mortgage pre-approved
 - listen to your realtor's advice
 - ask questions until you are satisfied the home he pick is the right home for you

Happy house hunting.
